Description

Wogonin is the 8-methoxy derivative of Baicalein​ from Scutellaria baicalensisroot — the same plant that gives Baicalin (ChP marker, glucuronide). The 8-OCH₃ group is small but mechanistically meaningful: vs. Baicalein (5,6,7-OH), Wogonin (5,7-OH + 8-OCH₃) loses one phenolic OH (6-OH gone) but gains lipophilic OCH₃ → ↑ membrane/BBB permeability in literature assays. This makes Wogonin the “neuro-flavor” sibling​ of the Scutellaria trio, while Baicalin = TCM bulk / Baicalein = broad anti-inflammatory / Wogonin = neuro + targeted anticancer.
